Classroom Procedures

Here are some classroom procedures we will use in the classroom on a daily basis.

Procedure to teach:Entering the Classroom
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for students as they enter or when they enter the classroom.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Enter the classroom and go to your assigned seat.
2. Put your book bag under the desk.
3. Make sure all drink and food are put away.
4. Look at your desk area and follow Computer Checklist Procedure.
REHEARSE Guided Practice: one way to practice and provide feedback On the first day of school each student will be walked through each step. I will state what is expected and model for them. They will follow me as I complete the steps.
REINFORCE Re-teach, Rehearse, PracticeWe will practice this daily until the procedure is second nature to them. If students are struggling with the procedure, we will exit the room and start over with instructions and follow the procedure together and complete it.

Procedure to teach:Computer Checklist
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for students as they sit down at their desk. This is to ensure they have the tools they need to complete the tasks in class each day.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Sit down at your assigned seat.
2. Check to see if your computer is on.
3. Check to see if you have a computer, keyboard, mouse, and mouse pad.
4. Check your desk and computer for any markings.
5A. If you do not have markings and computer is working, move onto Logging onto Computer procedure.
5B. If you have markings or computer is not working, please raise hand and get teachers attention.

Procedure to teach:Logging Onto the Computer
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for students before we start our lesson each day. Our class is a business class that focuses on enhances students use of technology. Students will need to log onto their computers to have access to all tools and resources.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Move the mouse from side to side to see logon screen.
2. Student will need their student lunch number.
3. Student will need their password they created.
4.Student will enter student lunch number using keyboard into username section.
5. Student will enter password using their keyboard into password section.
6. Student will hit the enter button or click with their mouse to complete logging on.

Procedure to teach:Computer Magnet Dots System
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for students before and during lesson time. This will help create less or minimal disruptions in class so students can focus on their assignments.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Students will identify the magnets on their computer.
2. Students will use appropriate color based on their needs.
3. Color meaning the below:
Red = need help from teacher, used all possible resources and asked teammates
Green= Computer/ technology assistance
Yellow= out to the bathroom
Blue = completed all assignments and working on certification or typing skills  
4. Student will place appropriate color on their computer.
5. Students can look to chart on board if they need to know what each color means.

Procedure to teach:Bathroom Procedure
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for students during the class period that may need to use the bathroom. This will help students be held accountable for bathroom use.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Students will place yellow dot on the computer.
2. Student will pull out agenda and write down the time.
3. Student will walk up to teacher and ask them to sign agenda so they can go to the bathroom.
4. Student will use nearby bathrooms.
5. When student returns to class, teacher will write down return time in their agenda.
6. Student is required to record time information onto bathroom sign-out sheet.
7. Student will remove yellow dot from their computer.

Procedure to teach:Exiting the Classroom
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for the class period coming to an end.  Students will need to get ready to leave.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Students will stop where they are at with their current assignments.
2. Students will make sure to save work to their One Drive Account.
3. Students will log off computers.
4. Students will pick up trash around their desk area.
5. Students will push in chairs.
6. Students will grab back packs and other personal items.

Procedure to teach:Cleaning the Computer  
Opening: rationale for the procedureThis is for the class to learn computer etiquette and proper cleaning of the tools we use daily. Students will learn to keep a sanitary area for their computers and longevity. Daily use produces natural oils on the computer, and we need to clean them to remove the oils.
EXPLAIN Intro to New Material: step-by-step instructions for enacting the procedure1. Students will take two cleaning wipes from teacher.
2. Students will wipe down computer screen first.
3. Student will then wipe down the keyboard.
4. Student will then wipe down mouse and pad.
5. Student will then wipe down their desk area.
6. Students will then ask teacher for air sprayer if keyboard has crumbs in it.
7. Student will place air sprayer at the keyboard to remove crumbs or debris. Student will return air sprayer to teacher.
8. Computers are clean.
